Stop Measuring Time. Start Measuring Repetitions.
Is it just me, or does it feel like time is moving faster than ever?
No matter how many excuses we have, even the valid ones, time doesn’t pause.
It doesn’t wait for us to feel ready.
It just keeps moving.
Now that we’re halfway through 2026, you may be looking back wondering where the last six months went.
And almost immediately, your brain begins making a list of everything you didn’t accomplish.
But that’s only because you’ve been measuring the wrong thing.
The problem isn’t that time is passing.
It’s that you’ve been measuring your life by calendar pages instead of repetitions.
This newsletter is being published on July 11th, which means there are roughly 174 days left in the year.
That also means you still have approximately:
- 174 walks.
- 174 writing sessions.
- 174 workouts.
- 174 days of reading.
- 174 opportunities to become someone different.
Identity doesn’t change because another page falls off the calendar.
Identity changes through repetition.
Neuroscientists often summarize learning with a simple phrase:
“Neurons that fire together, wire together.”
Every time you repeat a behavior, the neural pathway supporting that behavior becomes a little stronger.
You’re not just building a habit.
You’re teaching your brain what to expect from you.
That’s why repetition will always outperform motivation.
Motivation comes and goes.
Repetition changes you.
So instead of replaying the last six months, replay the habit you want to become known for.
Complaining about the past won’t change it.
Learning from it will.
You still have 174 opportunities to cast a vote for the person you’re becoming.
So, here’s my challenge:
Choose one habit you’ll repeat every day until December 31st.
Not ten.
Just one.
Because every repetition is another vote for your future identity.
You can let the next 174 days pass by while waiting for another January 1st…
Or you can use them to become someone who no longer needs January to start.
If you’d like a simple way to focus on consistency over perfection, I created the 100 Days, One You Guide & Tracker to help you visualize your repetitions, build momentum, and collect evidence that you’re becoming the person you set out to be.
Remember:
You don’t become a different person overnight.
You become a different person one repetition at a time.
Peace Out, Peace In.
