You Don’t Need Another New Year
Why do you give so much hope to January 1st, the next Monday morning, or your birthday as if those are the only days you’re allowed a fresh start?
July is officially the halfway point of 2026, and you have a choice.
You can decide the year is halfway over.
Or you can decide you’re just getting started.
The first six months weren’t the verdict.
They were your first set of data.
You might be tempted to spend this halfway mark grading yourself.
Looking at the goals you abandoned.
The habits you couldn't stick to.
The progress you wish we had made.
Then quietly deciding this year just isn't your year.
Judgement doesn't move you forward.
Data does.
And failure isn’t data.
Your experience is.
If your goal was to get in shape and you stopped after three weeks, don’t ask, Why did I fail?
Ask, What happened?
Maybe your plan was too aggressive.
Maybe your environment worked against you.
Maybe your schedule changed.
Every answer gives you information you didn’t have before.
Your brain works the same way.
It constantly updates its predictions based on the evidence you give it. If you keep repeating the story, “I always quit,” “I’m not disciplined,” or “I never follow through,” your brain begins to expect those outcomes. But every small action that contradicts that story gives your brain new evidence.
That’s why you don’t need another New Year.
You need a new experiment.
I call this The Second Half Experiment.
You’re not starting over.
You’re starting informed.
Before this week ends, write down:
1. Three things that worked.
2. Three things that didn’t.
3. One thing you’ll test this week.
The goal isn’t to obsess over what didn’t work. It’s to recognize the old pattern, learn from it, and replace it with a better experiment.
Remember, your life will be designed one way or another.
Either by your intentions…
Or by your inaction, indecision, procrastination, and overthinking.
The choice isn’t made next January.
It’s made by what you decide to do after you finish reading this.
So here’s my challenge:
Choose one experiment and start today.
Not Monday.
Not after summer.
Not when you finally feel ready.
Today.
Because your future isn’t built by perfect plans. It’s built by the evidence you collect through repeated action.
And six months from now, you’ll have another set of data.
The only question is whether that data tells the same story… or proves you’ve become someone new.
If you’re ready to stop waiting and start building momentum, my FREE Start Before You’re Ready 7-Day Challenge will help you take that first step. It’s designed to help you move before you feel ready, because action creates clarity, not the other way around.
Here’s to your second half.
Let’s make this your best experiment yet.
Peace Out, Peace In.
