Burning Bridges: The Power of No Return
What if the way forward requires a little arson?
There comes a point where preserving peace costs too much. Or as Steve Harvey put it,
“I'm not afraid to burn a bridge. I got a match.”
Not sure where you’re reading this—whether you’re in Tokyo, Buenos Aires, or whichever state’s MLK Drive, I encourage you to think about the last time you burned a bridge you thought was necessary.
How did it pan out?
Have you ever needed to cross that bridge again?
Or
Were you resourceful and figured it out yourself?
You have to cut access off to your old habits to protect the new version of yourself.
Self-sabotage isn’t a form of self-hate; it’s self-preservation.
It’s you trying to save yourself from vibrating on a frequency your nervous system hasn’t attuned to yet.
It’s unfamiliar territory.
You do not need that bridge.
Burn it to the ground.
Never look back.
Don’t allow your old habits to sabotage your new ones by creating workarounds in which you straddle the fence of becoming the new you while comforting your old self.
Let me be real with you- I am far from perfect and currently in the middle of burning a bridge myself.
Since May 23, 2025, I’ve been doing Alternate Day Fasting (ADF)– that's about seven weeks now. I created a “big back” workaround where I’ll stay up on a fasting day until midnight just so I can eat, instead of completing the full 36-hour fast.
Now I’m not technically cheating—because sure, it’s the next day—however, I am cheating myself by even allowing that as an option.
So, I decided to burn that bridge.
I’ll be tested, sure, but I don’t want to comfort old me for convenience…it’s literal sabotage to who I’m becoming.
How have you sabotaged your progress lately?
What steps will you take to stop?
I’ve decided I’m just gonna do better—because I want better. That’s it.
Burn the bridge.
Keep stepping.
And if you’re ready to train your willpower and finally move forward for real—

It’s self-paced, but it won’t let you stay self-sabotaging.
